This Week at MCC of Corpus Christi

December 5th, 2006

Good afternoon!
We have now entered the season of Advent, a season of light, hope, peace, and reflection. At MCC of CC, we encourage you to reflect not only on your own preparations for the arrival of Christ, but also how you might be a beacon of hope, light, and love to our community and beyond. Read on, share God's love with others, and be blessed in the process!

CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR

The MCC of CC Crafters have been working hard since August, preparing all kinds of great Christmas gifts for your shopping pleasure (and having a lot of laughs along the way, as well). Make sure to check out our fantastic homemade gifts beginning Sunday, December 10th after church! That's right! The MCC of CC Crafters are "bringin' it to you" by setting up a table of our crafts for sale during Social Hour each Sunday in December after church. So, bring your pocketbook or wallet and your Christmas List. Where else can you find great food, fellowship, AND do your Christmas shopping without the hassles of mall traffic?

CHRISTMAS NURSING HOME OUTREACH
This year, for the first time, MCC of Corpus Christi will be visiting 2 nursing homes, and providing companionship and small gifts to those residents who do not have family and/or friends who visit them. Please see Mary Jo Smith to learn more about how you can help bring some joy this Christmas season to some folks who may feel lonely and unloved. Let's be beacons of God's love and hope! At this time, we are planning to make the nursing home visits on Saturday, December 23rd.

INQUIRER'S CLASS
If you are interested in learning more about MCC of CC, and/or interested in possibly becoming a voting member of our church family, Pastor Danny will be leading an Inquirer's Class Sunday December 10th at 12:30-ish (right after Social Time following the morning service). Please contact the church office if you would like to attend this class so we may be sure to have a packet of information prepared for you.

THURSDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY
The Thursday Night Bible Study Group has started watching and discussing a DVD series on "Lost Christianities." This study explores the diversity of Christian practices during the first few centuries after Jesus' ascension, as well as some of the writings that did not make into the Bible. Everyone is welcome to attend these weekly study groups, so come on out! PLEASE NOTE: The location for this class has been changed to Pastor Danny and Richard's home due to technical difficulties at the church. Call the church for directions to their home if you would like to attend this study. Don't worry-we'll make room!

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES
We will be having 2 Christmas Eve services this year. The first will be our regular Sunday morning worship at 11:00AM, and the second will be our annual Christmas Eve evening service at 7:00PM.
