Message from the Pastor
June 17th, 2007
Good afternoon!
As you know, on May 27th, I announced to the congregation of MCC of Corpus Christi that I was selected as the candidate for the position of Pastor at Holy Covenant MCC in Brookfield, Illinois (a western suburb of Chicago). Richard and I traveled to the Chicagoland area for the candidacy visit June 6th-11th.
Today, the congregation at Holy Covenant voted to call me as their next pastor, and I have accepted that call.
As I told the congregation of MCC of CC on May 27th, the Board would be notified of this decision first; then an e-mail communication, as well as a written communication would be sent to the members of MCC of CC within 24-48 hours.
My last day as pastor of MCC of Corpus Christi will be July 22nd, 2007. Rev. Elder Darlene Garner will be visiting MCC of CC the weekend of July 28th-29th. On the 28th, she will be meeting with the Board of Directors to discuss issues surrounding the question of "what happens next."
On the 29th, Rev. Elder Garner will preach at the morning service, and will moderate a congregational forum following that service. It is during that forum that questions and discussions regarding "what happens next" (including the issue of calling an interim pastor) will be discussed with the congregation. At this time, there are no plans to hold any additional congregational forums prior to Rev. Garner's visit. We will, however, keep the congregation informed of any changes in this schedule.
I ask that you hold your Board of Directors up in prayer as MCC of Corpus Christi prepares to embark on this next stage of its journey. I also ask that you hold Richard and I up in your prayers, as we prepare to enter the next stage of our journeys in a new community of faith. Finally, please keep MCC of Corpus Christi in your prayers, as this family of faith seeks God's direction for its future.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Danny

Praise be to God from Whom All Blessings Flow!
Well, we received our Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Corpus Christi at 3PM on Friday, May 4th, and the carpet installers were finishing up at 4PM on Saturday the 5th, but.
WE ARE HERE!!!
Last Sunday was a fabulous celebration of God's blessings to our community, as we held our first worship service in our new home, affectionately known as, "501." The Holy Spirit was definitely with us as one person made a decision for Christ; we received 2 people into membership, and outdid ourselves with a wonderful potluck after the service.
First, thanks to everyone who was able to assist us in anyway with this transition process. Know that you are loved and appreciated! While we are here, there is still plenty to do, as we hang pictures, bulletin boards, repair and paint our bathrooms, hang outside signage, and stripe our parking lot. If you are able to help with any of these tasks, please notify any Board member. We will give you more information and work day dates as they are scheduled.
FOOD PANTRY RECEIVES DONATION FROM TRE
Thanks be to God! At the Investiture ceremonies for The Royal Sovereign Imperial Court of the Texas Riviera Empire (TRE) last Saturday night, Pastor Danny was presented with a check for approximately $2,300 to be used for our Food Pantry. This gift is such a huge blessing, as we are 1 of only 2 pantries in the 78401 zip code.
MORE FOOD PANTRY NEWS!
Our Food Pantry is also receiving a FREE freezer from the Corpus Christi Food Bank! This freezer will enable us to take advantage of the free bread and pastries sometimes provided by the Food Bank.
GOOD GOD QUESTIONS
Have you ever wondered why God allows suffering, or why bad things happen to good people? Most of us have asked these questions during the course of our lives. Pastor Danny will be leading a study on "Good God Questions" beginning Wednesday, April 25th. The first week (or maybe two) will be held at he and Richard's home while we complete our move from Craig Street to South Staples. Please contact the church for more information about this interesting study.

Happy May Day!
WE ARE IN THE HOMESTRETCH!!!
As you read this e-letter, "our" plumber has either finished, or is in the process of finishing the last of our city-mandated plumbing repairs. What that means is we will be having "company" (city inspectors) for most of the remainder of this week. Please be in prayer regarding these final inspections, as well as our carpet installation scheduled for Friday of this week.
Once the inspectors and contractors have cleared out, all we have left is "make pretty" on Saturday, as we set up our sanctuary for our first worship service on May 6th! Please remember that we will be asking people to remain outside for the blessing of the building before we all process in together for our first worship experience at "501."
Thanks to everyone who has stepped up in any way to help make our transition as smooth as possible. There are still many ways you can be part of this exciting time in our church. Just check with any Board member to find out how! Please continue to keep our community of faith in prayer as we move forward.
AND AT 1315 CRAIG STREET.
We have now "left the building," as the old saying goes. Thanks so much to everyone who pitched in to help us sort and move our belongings from "1315" to "501." If you have a key to our former church home, please turn it in to the church office, or to any Board member. We will be turning all our keys in to the leadership of the Loving Spoonful in the next week.

April 24th, 2007
Good morning!
WE ARE IN THE HOMESTRETCH!!!
God continues to bless us as we move forward toward starting life together in our new home at 501 South Staples. This last week we made major progress in moving our belongings from 1315 Craig to "501," as well as completed all our initial painting projects, and other minor repairs.
The fire door in the Sanctuary is now installed and looks great! We are expecting a passing grade from the City Fire Dept. later today. Our city-mandated plumbing repairs are scheduled for completion today, as well. Our goal for this week is to have all our city inspections completed. Please be in prayer about these inspections.
There has been a slight "glitch" with the carpet installation. Long story short, we were sold the wrong style of carpet for our needs. Lowe's has come through in fine fashion, however, by providing MCC of CC with a FREE carpet upgrade that meets our needs. So, while the carpet will not be installed for another week, and the pastor lost a few more precious gray hairs from his "solar panel" in the process, in the end, we are blessed yet again!
REMEMBER: The date of our first service at "501" is Sunday, May 6th. We will continue to update you about workdays and any other changes that may happen during this time.
Thanks to everyone who has stepped up in any way to help make our transition as smooth as possible. There are many ways you can be part of this exciting time in our church. Just check with any Board member to find out how! Please continue to keep our community of faith in prayer as we move forward.
AND AT 1315 CRAIG STREET.
We are now shifting our focus a bit from "501" back to "1315," as we continue to move our belongings from Craig Street to South Staples. This moving is going to be the focus of our work days over the next few weekends. Please contact Bob Yates at 855-5714, or Tom Thrower at 937-6866 for more details about how you can help.
POWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
We still may not have electrical power at 1315 Craig Street, but we are being powered by the Holy Spirit, and that is something that AEP can't EVER turn off! Amen?
Still, we know having no electricity can be annoying and inconvenient. The landlord is in the process of making the city-mandated repairs necessary to have the power restored. We appreciate your patience during this time of transition.
UPDATE: Our landlord indicated on Monday the 23rd that we should have electrical power for our final service at 1315 Craig Street. Thanks again for your patience, and thanks be to God for this blessing!

TEXAS A&M CC THEATRE PRESENTS THE LARAMIE PROJECT
We are excited to invite you to attend our performance of The Laramie Project in late April. The performance is a great opportunity for all patrons of the arts and it will provide a unique experience to see a story presented through the eyes of the town. On a clear, cold, Wyoming morning in October 1998, University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard was found tied to a fence in the middle of nowhere and left for dead. Compiled from over 200 interviews with Laramie citizens and people directly affected by Matthew Shepard's life and death, The Laramie Project brings awareness to the key components of his murder and the crucial weeks that followed. This breathtaking theatrical collage explores the depths to which humanity can sink, and the heights of compassion of which we are also capable.

MCC OF CORPUS CHRISTI IS MOVING-SLOWLY, BUT SURELY
God continues to bless us as we move forward toward starting life together in our new home at 501 South Staples. We are now down to touch up's here and there, as well as a little painting and organization.
Other than these minor details, we have contractors scheduled to install a second exit door in our sanctuary (required by the city), and replace the toilets in our bathrooms (again, required by the city). Carpet is scheduled to be installed in the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary next Monday and Tuesday. After these jobs are completed, it will be time for our final building inspections.

MCC OF CORPUS CHRISTI IS MOVING!!! (JUST A LITTLE LATER NOW)
God continues to bless us as we move forward toward starting life together in our new home at 501 South Staples. Our electrical power was restored late last week, and last Saturday we continued to clean the property and prepare it for more inspections, painting, and minor repairs.
Thanks to everyone who helped organize the initial move of our belongings from Craig Street to 501! You are both loved and appreciated!
REMEMBER: we have moved the date of our first service at "501" to Sunday, May 6th. We will continue to update you about workdays and any other changes that may happen during this time.

YOU GET THE POWER TURNED ON IN ONE PLACE AND.
If you were with us for Easter services, you probably noticed it was a little "nippy" in the sanctuary. In case you were wondering, we really were not trying to re-enact the first Easter morning. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the electricity was shut off at 1315 Craig Street last week. The city inspector did a "walk through" early this week, and there is some repair work our landlord will need to complete before the power is restored. The landlord has sincerely apologized for this inconvenience, and is working hard to have the required repairs done as soon as possible.
In the meantime, pleasant temperatures are forecast for this Sunday. Thanks for your patience!
CHURCH OFFICE AND FOOD PANTRY CLOSED
The church office and Food Pantry will be closed this week, April 9th-14th, and will reopen on Monday, April 16th at 501 South Staples. Phone messages will be checked daily, and all calls will be returned.
AND WHEN THE PANTRY REOPENS.
Help Wanted! A volunteer to help with the congregation's Food Bank Ministry. Working hours are flexible, Monday or Wednesday (morning hours). The job is labor intensive involving moving cartons full of food and packing food baskets for clients. A good way to get your exercise...and maintain your suave figure...
If you are interested, call the church office and ask for some "on-the-job" training. One month, one year, forever, you will be glad you did!
Our Food Bank serves about 100 families every month. Is it an "easy ministry"? Not even close...is it rewarding? You Bet! A special thanks to Randy Steele for being one of our volunteers these past few months. We wish both him and David Carter the best blessings available as they leave our area and continue being vagabonds!
