This Week at MCC of Corpus Christi
March 21st, 2007
Good afternoon!
MCC OF CORPUS CHRISTI IS MOVING!!!
God continues to bless us as we move forward toward starting life together in our new home at 501 South Staples. Last weekend was phenomenal, as about 20 people showed up to paint, clean, mow, rake, weed, laugh together, dream, and of course-EAT! This weekend we plan to finish the painting projects required before move in, continue clearing the parking lot and surrounding area, and prepping the floor for next week's carpet installation.
Thanks to everyone who has stepped up in any way to help make our transition as smooth as possible. There are many ways you can be part of this exciting time in our church. Just check with any Board member to find out how!
"THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!" (ON WEDNESDAYS)
Join us for Bible Study Wednesdays, beginning at 6:30PM in the Community Board Room of the church. Pastor Danny is leading a book study, "Thank God It's Friday," that takes a look at the seven last words from the cross. This book has generated some very deep and interesting discussions. The class is free, and all are welcome!
TORTILLA HEAVEN COMING TO CORPUS CHRISTI
Grace Church and Vicarious Productions present "Tortilla Heaven" performed by Jade Esteban Estrada here in Corpus Christi on March 31st at 7:30pm at 1315 Craig Street. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students/seniors, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. You can email TortillaHeavenCC@aol.com for ticket information or contact Brian Moore at 658-2084.
"Tortilla Heaven" is a play based on family and tradition, and sheds a comedic light on the struggle that many second and third generation Mexican Americans go through with trying to hold on to their culture.
Each character has their own unique struggle with trying to find the balance between assimilation into the American culture while still holding true to the roots, culture, language and ultimately themselves. Estrada plays seven characters in the bilingual play in order to show the different types of people and personalities that make up a traditional Mexican family in today's society.
EASTER BASKETS
We are gearing up for our Annual Easter Basket Drive! Please bring "Easter Basket Fixin's", and place them in the box near the front door of the sanctuary. We will be assembling them shortly before Easter; so stay tuned for more details on this always-fun event!
DESSERT AUCTION RAISES $472.00!!!
We love our desserts, don't we? Last week's auction raised $472.00 to benefit the Delegates Fund (also known as the Conference Fund), which will be used to help pay the travel expenses of the Pastor and Lay Delegate to General Conference this July in Scottsdale, Arizona. Thanks so much!
