Goodbye and Good Luck to Rev. Mel Martinez
Rev. Mel Martinez will be leaving MCC Staff on 1 July 2011 in order to focus more on her calling to congregational ministry. We are grateful for her nearly nine years of faithful service to MCC and wish for her many blessings as she lives into her calling in new ways. From Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson: "Rev. Mel Martinez has been a steady hand at the wheel of our Web for many years and has really pioneered a lot of our Web and media ministry. Mel was one of the first Elder assistants and has served with faithfulness and dedication. Mel is a gifted woman with many talents on the computer, the guitar and in the pulpit! As a graduate of one of the first Leadership Mentoring Retreats, we look forward to what her gifts for ministry will produce in the local church and denominationally for many, many years to come. Well done, Mel!" You can contact Mel directly at pastormelmcc@gmail.com to thank her for her many contributions to MCC pastors and churches. We ask for prayers and patience as we reorganize support for communications and the website. For MCC website questions, please email communications@mccchurch.net. |

MCC's First Stewardship Summit a Success!
The first MCC Stewardship Summit was held in Los Angeles, California, 24-25 June, with 7 participating churches and over 30 registrants. Rev. Elder Diane Fisher, Barb Crabtree, Director of Operations, and Irma Bauer Levesque, Director of Development, facilitated the two-day Summit, supported by Rev. Stedney Phillips, Church Life Specialist for the Office of Church Life and Health. The Summit was a blend of: - Learning how to implement a stewardship program that is grounded in church size theory,
- Individual church assessment of your stewardship program,
- Recommendations for focus on the next stages of stewardship program development at each individual church, and
- Practical work on stewardship materials to take back to your home church.
Participants came with questions and left with concrete plans for stewardship development in their own church. Some comments from the Stewardship Summit: - The one thing most valuable was:
- the breakdown on how to put together a successful stewardship campaign!
- resources and ideas.
- Thank you each and all for your hard work, willingness to learn/teach, and for caring about the growth and health of our churches.
- Amazing experience which has concrete and applicable tools for my church.
Thank you to MCC Los Angeles and Rev. Dr. Neil Thomas, Senior Pastor, for hosting this event. If you have attended a Church Size Summit, the Programming, Stewardship, and Worship Summits are next in the Summit series. For more information and locations on 2011 Summits, please click here. |
