This week:
Game Night—We will have game night on Saturday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. Bring your favorite game and munchies and some of your friends.

Creating a Life that Matters informational meeting—After church on Sunday, we will gather to learn more about the Creating a Life that Matters class. This class will be held on Saturdays. There are 3 sections to the class: The Sacred, Myself, and My Passion. Each section has 6 class sessions. Please come and learn more about this exciting class.

After church on Sunday, we will finish up the work we have been doing on Moving off the Map. We will then begin the book 12 Keys to an Effective Church. This book will help us to create our vision and mission statements and help us as we prepare for our pastoral search process. Please come and help us take the next steps together.

PFLAG—The monthly meeting for Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will be held on Tuesday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ which is located at 5525 Lipes Boulevard. Rev. Charles Brown is the contact person for this meeting.



This month:


On Sunday, January 24, after worship, we will finish up the work we have been doing on Moving off the Map. We will then begin the book 12 Keys to an Effective Church. This book will help us to create our vision and mission statements and help us as we prepare for our pastoral search process. Please come and help us take the next steps together.


Potlucks—After church every Sunday this month, we are each invited to bring whatever we would like for the potluck. We need some people to help set up and clean up after the fellowship time each Sunday as well. Thank you!!

Movie Night—We will have movie night on Saturday, January 30 at 6:00 p.m. Ask Howie to find out more about what movie we will see.

Transgender Support Group—A monthly transgender support group meets here. Each third Saturday of the month our Transgender brothers and sisters are invited to come and learn more about who we are as people of faith. This is a closed meeting and all participation is confidential. To learn more about the group please speak with Lisa B. Lancaster. She will be glad to assist you.

Next month:

During worship on Sunday, February 21, we will take up a second offering so that worldwide representatives can attend the General Conference of the Metropolitan Community Church. Many of these leaders are doing some of the most difficult, even dangerous work, in some of the most isolated conditions. The additional training and support that they will receive by attending Conference will make a huge difference in our worldwide MCC ministry effectiveness. Please give as you are able.

Coat Collection—We are collecting coats for anyone who needs one. We will collect coats from now until the end of December. Get those old coats out of the back of your closet and put them on the back of someone who needs it!!!

The Christ-Centered Prayer group: A prayer group focusing on quiet listening is held on Fridays at 9am. Yes, in the morning!!! Come and increase your peace.

Bible study is at 6:30 every Wednesday night.

We are continuing to collect books and CD's and DVD's which will be sold to Half Price Books. This will help us raise money for the Saturday night fun activities. Please see Lisa for more information.....

If you would like to assist with the sound system or the PowerPoint presentation? (Especially when Tom and Andy are out of town.) Please see Pastor Carol, Tom, or Andy to sign up. Tom, Andy or Howie will train you
before you’re expected to fly solo.

Rejuvenation of the Fellowship Hall and Sanctuary Vivian is planning on painting walls, hanging pictures and spiffying up the church during the end of January, or the beginning of February. Please see her or Pastor Carol if you are interested in contributing paint, spiritual pictures or sayings or artificial plants. We are open for more suggestions as well.

This week:



Creating a Life that Matters Class—On Sunday, January 17, after church we will have information available about the M.C.C. class, Creating a Life that Matters. The class itself will be held on Saturday mornings. It has 3 sections: The Sacred, Myself, and My Passion. The class requires making a commitment. There are three 9 week segments, and they will be divided up with 3 weeks on and one week off. Please come to the informational meeting to learn more about this exciting class.



Martin Luther King, Jr. Day—On Monday, January 18,
There are two events happening:
Annual YWCA Racial Justice Forum
Martin Luther King Day
Monday, January 18, 2010
YWCA Corpus Christi, 4601 Corona Drive
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

The other event on this same day is the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March. It will begin at the Nueces County Courthouse at 901 Leopard Street. The march will then proceed to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd which is located at 700 S. Upper Broadway Street for the entertainment which will include refreshments as well. The march is one mile in length.

The 25th Annual Martin Luther King Holiday Celebration will begin at 12:00 noon at the Nueces County Courthouse. The march will go to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd at 700 S. Upper Broadway St. There will be entertainment and refreshment.
