This Week

Prison Ministry—We have a golden opportunity to do what Jesus told us to do.  In Matthew 25 we are told that if we visit those in prison, we visit Jesus.  If anyone is interested in learning more about this exciting new ministry, please contact Pastor Carol.

Coming Soon

We will be having guest speakers on June 27^th and July 4^th as Pastor Carol will be at conference from June 23^rd through July 3^rd.  Come show our guest speakers that we truly are a vibrant growing community of Faithful believers in Corpus Christi.  June 27^th will be Chaplain Jenny Russell and July 4^th will be Rev. Pat Farnan.

July 3^rd we will have a Dance and show to celebrate the 4^th of July holiday.  Everyone is welcome to come out and have a great time! See Aaron, Howie or Cheryl for more info.

 Many men many voices is coming to MCC of Corpus Christi!!!

This 7 session class is intended for those who have sex with men and may be at risk for AIDS.  There is transportation, food and a stipend available.  Please contact Manuel for more information.  Sessions are from 6 to 8 pm each of the following Mondays:  July 19^th, July 26^th, Aug. 2^nd­, Aug. 9^th­, Aug. 16^th, and Aug. 23^rd­.  Manuel   will be at MCC Sunday after the service on   June 27th  to meet with  anyone who is interested.

This Month

Toilet Paper: Please bring Toilet Paper to church with you!  We are collecting these items to give to the Food Pantry patrons who need them.  Thank you!!!  As always, grocery bags are greatly appreciated!!

Bible Study! – The Bible Study has been restarted! Wednesday Evenings at 6:30 PM folks will gather at the church to study the Bible.  Come join us to increase your knowledge of the scriptures.

Movie Night – On the 2^nd and 4^th Saturday night of every month, we will gather at the church to watch a movie.  If you have a suggestion for a movie to watch, See Howie or Lisa or write it on the clipboard.

Transgender Support Group—A monthly transgender support group meets here.  Each third Saturday of the month, our Transgender brothers and sisters are invited to come and learn more about who we are as people of faith.  This is a closed meeting and all participation is confidential.  To learn more about the group please speak with Lisa B. Lancaster.  She will be glad to assist you.

The Christ-Centered Prayer group: A prayer group focusing on quiet listening is held on Fridays at 9am.  Yes, in the morning!!!  Come and increase your peace.

Sound System: Would you like to assist with the sound system or the PowerPoint presentation (Especially when Tom and Andy are out of town)? Please see Pastor Carol, Tom, or Andy to sign up.  Tom, Andy or Howie will train you before you're expected to fly solo.

T shirts:  We are selling T-shirts for $10 each.  The sizes run fromSmall-3x to raise money for the Conference fund. See Andy or Pat. They make a great gift. We have 2 styles available, ask to see them!

This Week

TRE Show to benefit the Locher Food Pantry – On Saturday, June 19^th, TRE will be holding a show at the hidden Door to benefit the Locher Food Pantry.  The show is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM.  All performers are welcome and music needs to be turned in by 9:30. The theme for the show is Food! Come on out and tip the performers to help raise funds for the Locher Food Pantry.

Teddy Bears—We are collecting Teddy Bears for the Homicide Survivors Group.  They will be given to children who are victims of any crime.  The Teddy Bears need to be here by Sunday, June 20.

General Conference Forum: June 20^th, Andy, our Lay Delegate, will be holding a General Conference Forum to inform everyone of the issues to be voted on at this year's conference.  This forum will be immediately after service during Fellowship time. Board Meeting – The next meeting of the Board of Directors will be at 1:00 PM on Sunday June 20^th. Everyone is welcome to come and observe this meeting.

Calling all baseball fans - We have a great opportunity to come together as a fellowship.  On June the 20th the Hooks ball park is having Faith and Family night.  We would love to come together as a church body and go to the game.  Reserved tickets are $8.00 and general admission is $3.00. If you are interested please see Lisa B. Lancaster or Pastor Carol so we can get an idea of how many are interested and be able to collect the $8.00 for those that wish to be on the reserved list. Please contact us by Friday the 18th.  There will be a Christian band playing before the game.

Annual Awards Banquet – The committee needs new members to be appointed at the June Board meeting this Sunday.  If you are interested in serving on this committee, see Tom or Pastor Carol.

Raffle—We have the tickets for the raffle for the Olivia Caribbean Sun Cruise for two.  Each ticket costs $5.00, or you can purchase 5 tickets for $20.00.  The drawing date is July 2.  You do not need to be present to win.  The proceeds benefit our church as well as the MCC general conference fund.  Please see Sharon or Andy for tickets.

Saturday night out reach - Praise God for the growing attendance and a special thanks to Chris P and Cliff G for their contributions that helped make the 6-12-10 event a success !!!!

Metropolitan Community Churches Tearing Down Walls.  Building Up Hope. GENERAL CONFERENCE - WE'RE ALMOST THERE!   Dear Friends: I am asking every MCC church, pastor and member to keep in prayer our upcoming, historic General Conference in Latin America! We are also especially welcoming our brothers and sisters from "the Fellowship," as we continue to work and collaborate in new ways. . . Even if you cannot attend stay connected with us daily, the week of June 28th through July 2nd by keeping an eye to the MCC General Conference Website for regular on-the-ground upates! In addition, the content of our daily Bible Study (brought to you by our Theologies Team) will be online, so you can download it and use it during Conference, or anytime thereafter. Pray for:  revival, renewal, inspiration, for people to hear the call of God on their hearts, for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit, for good decisions, for unity in the midst of such wonderful diversity, for laughter and love and joy to abound. Did you know: That our churches in Latin America have grown from 13 worshipping communities in 10 countries in 2007, to 42 worshipping communities in 14 countries and Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic today! Tania Guzman... Greetings MCC.  We returned from Haiti to the Dominican Republic this (7 June 2010)  afternoon.   The trip to Haiti was a very challenging one, and even dangerous.  We intended to visit the tent camps to provide tents to families still without them.  ("Tents" in most of the camps refers to shelters made of bed sheets and sticks.  We are providing real tents from MCC.)  While walking thru the first camp, people started to gather around us.  The crowd became so large and pressing that our group was scattered.  Because of the crowd, it was dificult to figure out how to get back to the bus.   The people in the crowd were very angry and very loud.  I could not understand what they were telling me, but they pointed to their stomachs, leading me to believe that they must have been very hungry.   I was escorted to the fire station nearby for protection by Gito, one of our group members.  As the crowd followed me and Gito, others in our group were able to get clear and back to the bus.  Read the rest of Rev.
