This Week at MCC of Corpus Christi

August 16, 2006

Good morning!

We are quickly approaching fall, and with fall comes many wonderful ministries in which you can participate. Read on, get involved, and be blessed!

MOVING FORWARD

As you know, the congregation of MCC of Corpus Christi voted not to repurchase the land, building, and other real property where we currently worship. "So,' you may be thinking, 'now what?"

The Board of Trustees will now be researching various alternatives for our next home. The good news is we have time to conduct this research, and the more proactive planning we do now, should we have to move in the future, the smoother that transition to our next home will be. We will keep you posted on any new developments in this area. Please remember to keep your Board of Trustees in prayer. The members of this team are Richard Lofstrand, Don Schifke, and Diana Wehrenberg.

ELECTION COMMITTEE RESULTS

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jim Gott, Clayton Hill, and Mary Jo Smith have been elected to serve on this year's Election Committee. This year we will have 3 (three) 2-year Board terms to elect, as well as a one-year Alternate Lay Delegate position. We plan to have election packets available by the beginning of September for our October Annual Congregational Meeting. Stay tuned for more details.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR

Preparations for the 2nd Annual Christmas Craft Fair are now in full swing! If you would like to join in the fun, the next meeting will be at Diane and Mary Jo's on Friday, August 25th at 7PM. We will be sending a schedule to you via e-mail, and including the schedule as a bulletin insert, too! See you there!

TAKIN' IT TO THE STREETS

We are in the VERY early stages of planning an outreach event we are now calling, "Takin' It To The Streets." The plan is for us to host a cookout/barbeque at one of the local bars each month over at least the next 3 months. We are scheduled to be at The Hidden Door on Sunday, September 17th beginning at 4:00PM. If you would like to volunteer to be part of this ministry, please contact Pastor Danny. Let's put on those new MCC t-shirts, get out there and serve our community, and let them know how great God is! Let's take the good news of God's life changing love for all people to the streets of our community!

FALL FESTIVAL PLANNED FOR OCTOBER 31ST

Annette Berdan and Don Schifke are forming a committee to plan a wonderful Fall Festival for our church and neighborhood children. The planned date of the festival is Halloween (October 31st). We need donations of small prizes, wrapped candy, materials to build games, ideas for games, and plenty of volunteers to staff those games and a Haunted House. If you are interested in volunteering for this sure-to-be-fun event, see Annette or Don for more details. Let's give our kids a safe and fun alternative to trick or treating on the streets! Oh, and don't worry-we plan to have food for our "adult trick or treaters" as well.

GOSPEL CONCERT LABOR DAY WEEKEND!

Robert Blake and The Anointing from Resurrection MCC, Houston Texas will be bringing their gift of ministry through music to MCC of CC. Labor Day weekend. The concert is free; however, we will be taking a love offering on Saturday night for The Anointing. Robert Blake will also be preaching for us Sunday, Sept. 3rd. Don't miss these Spirit-filled events, and be sure to tell your friends!
