FINANCES

As it says in Mark 12:42-44: A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."

Thank you!!— On Sunday, May 16, we received $625. for our general fund.  This helps us stay on track with our bills.  We greatly appreciate everyone's gifts.

Thank you!!—Our annual awards banquet garnered us $483 to help with the mortgage retirement.  Thanks to everyone who contributed and who helped make it such a huge success!!!

Just FYI: Our Bookkeeper, Andy Wilcox, says we need approximately $1028 each week to keep current with all of our bills.  Andy also says "Thanks for making my job easy by your generous donations!"

Moderator of Metropolitan Community Churches

Calls All U.S. Congregations to Immediate Action

to Secure the Passage of ENDA

Today, as we mark the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia {IDAHO} and MCCers around the globe join in demonstrations, dialogues and prayer vigils seeking a world where discrimination and violence against LGBT people is a thing of the past, I call on our Churches and Congregants in the United States to join me in taking action to ensure the passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act {ENDA}.

ENDA is a federally based effort to ensure that LGBT people enjoy the same  legal  protections against job discrimination as all other workers.   Too many of us are struggling too hard to maintain employment in a difficult economy, for anyone of us to have to worry about job loss simply because of gender identity or expression or sexual orientation.

If we don't act to pass ENDA now, it will die in Congress for this session.  That is the simple truth.

Our calls can make a difference.

I urge every MCCer and person of good will to call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at          202-224-3121 today!  All you have to do is give the operator your zip code and you will be connected to your U.S. Representative.  Once connected, make sure your Representative knows you are a constituent.  Then join me in saying:

Discrimination is a real problem that affects real people, like me.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people need basic job discrimination protections.

Members of Congress must prioritize the passage of ENDA NOW!

We can't wait any longer!

Your call can make a difference.  Join me on Monday, May 17th in making sure that Congress acts immediately to pass ENDA.

Grace and Peace,

+Nancy
