Dear Members and Friends of MCC Corpus Christi,
June is Pride Month in many cities throughout the nation. It is a time when we take look at our internal homophobias and say – "it is time to let you go". We do not gain the respect and acceptance of others until we accept ourselves. A big part of that journey is really believing that God can, does, and always will, love us just as we have been created. MCC plays an important role in helping people come to that amazing realization.
Worshiping God in our MCC faith community is one way that we keep our spiritual batteries charged and become empowered to live out our faith in every part of our lives.
Our Sunday School class has been studying "One Anothering" this summer. It is a series that has helped us learn how to live in relationship with one another in a faith community. The study has been so successful that members want to continue meeting each week for study and fellowship.
New Adult "Sunday School":
We start a new series on July 3 that will study Rev Elder Troy Perry's book,
10 Spiritual Truths for Successful Living
For Gays and Lesbians (and everyone else)!
Chapter titles are:
God did not create you so God could have someone to hate;
God always makes room for the exception;
The Lord is My Shepherd and knows what I am;
The Bible is your friend, no matter what anyone else says;
God loves the Little Children, especially the one who lives in You;
Always listen to the voice of God;
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing;
There is only one irreversible law in the universe;
Your sexuality is a gift from God
Never for the sake of peace and quiet, deny your own existence.

Memorial for Pat Bastian: There will be a memorial service for Pat at 2:00pm on Saturday 30 July 2011 at the Church, everyone is invited to attend and remember our sister Pat.
Desert Auction: Bring your wallets, checkbooks, your favorite dessert and of course, your sweet tooth! We're having a dessert auction to raise money for our 30th anniversary celebration, after church on 31 July 2011.

MCC Awards Night This year we raised over $800.00 to help pay off our balloon payment. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event extra special. We have already started the planning for next year's event. Get out your western wear and join us for our Texas-western themed Awards night 2012. Start saving that dollar a week now.
Locher Food Pantry : The Food Pantry is collecting pasta, rice and beans this month, so, when your shopping, pick up some extra and bring them in.
Saturday Evening Social: Join us in a night of social activities - -the first Saturday of each month -- 8-11pm open to everyone and sponsored by the local AA community.
