General Conference Promotional Rate
Extended to Monday, 7 May 2012

Good news!  We had great response and very strong volume in the registration system as the deadline approached for the special promotional rate for General Conference XXV!

Better news!  We want to make sure that everyone who was attempting to register during that time period has been able to get into the system and complete registration, so we are extending the deadline for the special low promotional rate through Monday, 7 May 2012!

Take advantage of this deal that is nearly half off the regular registration rate for General Conference, which promises to be our largest conference yet!

If you have difficulty registering online, please do not hesitate to call Carlos Chavez (1-310-489-3899) or Jennifer Justice (1-213-447-2953), and they will help you get registered over the phone. You can also email them at Conferences@MCCchurch.net.

EMERGING MINISTRIES

The Office of Emerging Ministries is developing articles and resources to assist  in our mission to develop fully inclusive congregations. Here are 3 new ones:

We hope you have considered using/incorporating the Top 10 Ways to Make Your Church More Trans-Inclusive we included in the previous issue of Headline News.

Micro-inequity refers to the ways in which individuals are "either singled out, or overlooked, ignored, or otherwise discounted" based on an unchangeable characteristic such as race or gender. A micro-inequity generally takes the form of a gesture, different kind of language, treatment, or even tone of voice. It is suggested that the perceptions that cause the manifestation of microinequities are deeply rooted and unconscious. The cumulative effect of microinequities can impair a person's performance in the workplaceclassroom, or church, damage self-esteem, and may eventually lead to that person's withdrawal in many forms.

The Opportunity Agenda, in their landmark report Recommendations drawn from Public Opinion and Discourse on the Intersection of LGBT Issues and Race, takes a close look at the roles ethnic and new media are playing today in both perpetuating and challenging negative stereotypes of LGBT people of color.
