This Week at MCC of Corpus Christi

April 24th, 2007

Good morning!

WE ARE IN THE HOMESTRETCH!!!
God continues to bless us as we move forward toward starting life together in our new home at 501 South Staples. This last week we made major progress in moving our belongings from 1315 Craig to "501," as well as completed all our initial painting projects, and other minor repairs.

The fire door in the Sanctuary is now installed and looks great! We are expecting a passing grade from the City Fire Dept. later today. Our city-mandated plumbing repairs are scheduled for completion today, as well. Our goal for this week is to have all our city inspections completed. Please be in prayer about these inspections.

There has been a slight "glitch" with the carpet installation. Long story short, we were sold the wrong style of carpet for our needs. Lowe's has come through in fine fashion, however, by providing MCC of CC with a FREE carpet upgrade that meets our needs. So, while the carpet will not be installed for another week, and the pastor lost a few more precious gray hairs from his "solar panel" in the process, in the end, we are blessed yet again!

REMEMBER: The date of our first service at "501" is Sunday, May 6th. We will continue to update you about workdays and any other changes that may happen during this time.

Thanks to everyone who has stepped up in any way to help make our transition as smooth as possible. There are many ways you can be part of this exciting time in our church. Just check with any Board member to find out how! Please continue to keep our community of faith in prayer as we move forward.

AND AT 1315 CRAIG STREET.
We are now shifting our focus a bit from "501" back to "1315," as we continue to move our belongings from Craig Street to South Staples. This moving is going to be the focus of our work days over the next few weekends. Please contact Bob Yates at 855-5714, or Tom Thrower at 937-6866 for more details about how you can help.

POWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
We still may not have electrical power at 1315 Craig Street, but we are being powered by the Holy Spirit, and that is something that AEP can't EVER turn off! Amen?

Still, we know having no electricity can be annoying and inconvenient. The landlord is in the process of making the city-mandated repairs necessary to have the power restored. We appreciate your patience during this time of transition.

UPDATE: Our landlord indicated on Monday the 23rd that we should have electrical power for our final service at 1315 Craig Street. Thanks again for your patience, and thanks be to God for this blessing!

GOOD GOD QUESTIONS
Have you ever wondered why God allows suffering, or why bad things happen to good people? Most of us have asked these questions during the course of our lives. Pastor Danny will be leading a study on "Good God Questions" beginning Wednesday, April 25th. The first week (or maybe two) will be held at he and Richard's home while we complete our move from Craig Street to South Staples. Please contact the church for more information about this

TEXAS A&M CC THEATRE PRESENTS THE LARAMIE PROJECT
We are excited to invite you to attend our performance of The Laramie Project in late April. The performance is a great opportunity for all patrons of the arts and it will provide a unique experience to see a story presented through the eyes of the town. The story sends a strong message of not just equality for some, but equality for all.

The Laramie Project
by Moises Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project
directed by Don Luna

April 19-22, 26-29
On a clear, cold, Wyoming morning in October 1998, University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard was found tied to a fence in the middle of nowhere and left for dead. Compiled from over 200 interviews with Laramie citizens and people directly affected by Matthew Shepard's life and death, The Laramie Project brings awareness to the key components of his murder and the crucial weeks that followed. This breathtaking theatrical collage explores the depths to which humanity can sink, and the heights of compassion of which we are also capable.

For ticket information, call the University Theatre Box Office
at 825-5800 or email us at
