This Week at MCC of Corpus Christi
June 20th, 2007

Praise be to God from Whom All Blessings Flow!

Here is what is going on at your community of faith-MCC of Corpus Christi-this week. Read on, get involved, grow, be blessed, and be a blessing to others

OUT AND ABOUT IN THE COMMUNITY
Recently, Pastor Danny was one of the guest speakers at a Master's level Counseling Program class presentation at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The topic of the presentation was "Counseling Issues for Minority Populations," and Pastor Danny, as well as other lgbt families told their stories and fielded questions from the class. All the speakers were warmly received, the energy level positive, and the information shared was timely and critical for these future professional counselors.

GOOD GOD QUESTIONS
Have you ever wondered why God allows suffering, or why bad things happen to good people? Most of us have asked these questions during the course of our lives. Pastor Danny is leading a study entitled, "Good God Questions." Join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30PM in the Fellowship Hall of the church. All are welcome!

CONGREGATIONAL FORUM
In preparation for General Conference, Lay Delegate, Andy Wilcox will be hosting a Congregational Forum on Sunday, June 24th, following the morning service. Andy will be sharing with us the measures coming up for vote at General Conference. This is your chance to learn more about what is coming up at General Conference, and to give your input to our Lay Delegate about the measures coming up for vote.

CBAF's 2007 SOFTBALL CHALLENGE JUNE 24th
After the forum, why not head over to the Greenwood Softball Complex at 4501 Greenwood, and watch some great softball action from 2-8PM? This is a FREE event with prizes and games for the whole family! Call CBAF at 361-814-2001, and ask for Ashley Billig for more information.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
The July Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Sunday, July 15th at 1:00PM. Everyone is welcome to attend and observe this meeting.

LOVING SPOONFUL CASINO NIGHT JULY 27th
Come on out and have some fun on July 27th at Saxet Hall at 3952 Leopard from 7-10PM. As the Loving Spoonful and NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) hold a Casino Night. The cost is only $35 per person. Call 882-8862 for more information.

CONGREGATIONAL FORUM SCHEDULED FOR JULY 29th
As was announced earlier this past week, Pastor Danny has accepted the call to be the Pastor of Holy Covenant MCC in Brookfield, Illinois. His last day as Pastor of MCC of Corpus Christi will be Sunday, July 22nd. Rev. Elder Darlene Garner will be visiting MCC of Corpus Christi the weekend of July 28th and 29th. On Sunday the 29th, the Elder will be preaching at the morning service, and will be moderating a Congregational Forum after the service. It is at this forum that the congregation will discuss issues surrounding "what happens next." While there are no votes scheduled for this meeting, it is important for members of MCC of CC to attend this forum to ask questions and offer input regarding the future direction of the church. Please make plans to attend this informative forum.

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that our recent Dessert Auction raised over $500 for our Delegates Fund? Now Andy and the Pastor won't have to hitchhike to Scottsdale for General Conference (they don't have the legs to pull it off, anyway)!

Did you know that the TRE Chicken and Fixin's cookout on June 10th raised $484 for MCC of CC?

Thanks to everyone who was able to participate in any way with either or both of these events!

COMING THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 24th:
Who's in? Who's out? Who cares? When it comes to the church, a lot of folks do. But was that the original intention of the church of Jesus Christ? Come find out more this Sunday, as Pastor Danny brings a timely message based on Galatians 3:23-29.

Food for the Journey
"The best sermons are lived, not preached."

See you in church!
